Mero Concepts Is Joining Denizen: What It Means for Your Austin Home

When I started Mero Concepts in 2013, I was not trying to build a company that sold boxes. I had spent a decade at Apple learning how much the experience around a product matters, and I kept seeing the same thing happen in Austin homes: good equipment, installed badly, handed over with no follow through. Homeowners were left with a system nobody had bothered to make simple.
So we built the opposite. We started with the client, then designed around how they actually live.
Thirteen years later, I am writing to share news that makes that mission bigger, not smaller. Mero Concepts has joined Denizen.
Why now
This was not a quick decision. Denizen and I have been in conversation for more than three years. We took our time because I was not willing to hand our clients to a company that treats service as an afterthought.
What convinced me is that Denizen thinks about homes the way we do. They are a residential technology integrator with four offices, deep engineering talent, and a support structure built to answer the phone when needed. Their pillars are environment, entertainment, convenience, and security. Ours have always been automation, lighting and shade control, entertainment, and security. The overlap is nearly total.
Charles, Aaron, and I are all continuing with Denizen. Same faces, same vehicles in your driveway, same phone numbers. The difference is what stands behind us now.
What stays exactly the same
Let me be direct, because this is the part that matters most to you.
Your system does not change. Your Control4 programming, your Lutron lighting scenes, your Sonos zones, your Josh.ai voice commands, your cameras: none of it is being touched or migrated. Nothing needs to be replaced.
Your service relationship does not change either. If you have called us for a firmware update, a shade that stopped tracking, or a new television that needed integrating, you call the same way. We are still the smart home installer serving Cedar Park, Lakeway, Dripping Springs, Tarrytown, and the greater Austin area, and we are still CEDIA trained on every product we specify.
Our standards do not change. We never chose equipment because it padded a margin, and that is not going to start now.
What gets better
Here is what I am genuinely excited about.
Depth of support. A four person shop has limits, and I have felt every one of them. A dedicated support team means faster response when something needs attention, and coverage.
Engineering and design capability. Denizen brings in house engineering and design that lets us take on more complex projects. Larger home theater installation in Austin, whole house audio and video across multiple structures, dedicated networking, complex lighting design across an entire property.
Better buying power and vendor access. Deeper relationships with Lutron, Control4, Sonos, Sonance, DMF, and Josh.ai mean better availability and better pricing on the products we already trust.
More people on the schedule. Motorized shades in Austin have become one of our most requested services, largely because of what the western sun does to a room here. More installers means shorter lead times on projects like that.
Commercial capacity. We have always done light commercial work. Now we can expand our offerings within the space.
What we do, for anyone finding us for the first time
If you are new to Mero Concepts, here is the short version of what we build.
Smart home automation. One interface for the whole house. Lights, climate, audio, video, shades, locks, and cameras, controlled from a keypad, a phone, or your voice. Designed so your guests can figure it out without a tutorial.
Lighting and shade control. Tunable lighting that shifts through the day, plus motorized shades that manage heat and glare on their own. This is the single upgrade most Austin homeowners notice immediately.
Home entertainment. From a clean, well calibrated family room setup to a dedicated theater with proper acoustics, seating, and lighting. Multi room audio that actually sounds good in every room, not just the one nearest the amp.
Security and surveillance. Cameras, access control, and monitoring integrated with the rest of the home so your security system is not a separate app you never open.
The transition
We are prioritizing a seamless handoff. Your files, your programming documentation, your system history, and your service records all move with us. Existing projects continue on schedule with the same team. Warranties and service agreements carry forward.
If something feels off during the transition, I want to hear about it directly.
Thank you
Mero Concepts exists because Austin homeowners took a chance on a small company with strong opinions about how this work should be done. That trust built everything. Joining Denizen is how we keep earning it at a scale we could not reach alone.
The name on the door is changing. The reason you hired us is not.
